British Army unit war diaries are an invaluable tool for the study of military campaigns, for genealogists and those wishing to discover more about their family history.
The Arcre search engine enables you to easily find references for British Army and Commonwealth war diaries held by the British National Archives (TNA). The engine aims to give more focused results than the official TNA catalogue, especially using natural language search terms. War diaries from World War I, World War II, Palestine, Korea and Suez are included in the datasets.
Once the TNA file reference has been found from the search engine, the original diaries can be seen in person at the National Archives at Kew or Arcre can arrange copying of the diary on your behalf. Just drop us a line with your requirements or order copies directly using our online Document Copy Service.
